Animalia Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Animalia is an animal-guessing game published by Hero Android Software (Salih Kahraman, Turkey). This page explains what information the game uses, where it goes, and what you can do about it.

The short version
- You never give us your name, email address, phone number or location. The game has no sign-up.
- There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking in the game.
- Your progress is stored on your own device.
- If you play online (Versus), our server keeps an anonymous player profile: a random name, a rating and your match results.
- In online play you may be matched against a computer opponent.
- You can delete your online profile from inside the game at any time.
What stays on your device
The following is saved only on your phone or tablet and is never sent to us:
- the animals you have found, your statistics, streaks and achievements;
- rounds you have not finished;
- your settings (language, music, Hard Mode, daily reminder).
Removing the game from your device erases all of it.
Your device's own backup service (Google or Apple) may include the game's data in the backups it makes of your device. That is controlled by your device settings and governed by Google's or Apple's privacy policy, not by us.
Online play (Versus)
Versus is optional. The first time you open it, our server creates an anonymous profile for you. It stores:
- a random identifier and a secret key that your device keeps, so the server recognises you next time (we store only a scrambled form of the key, not the key itself);
- a randomly generated player name, such as "SwiftOtter42". You cannot type a name, and there is no chat;
- your rating, and your number of wins, losses and draws in each mode;
- the date your profile was created and the date you last played;
- a log of finished matches: the mode, the kind of match, who took part, the result, the animal that was the answer, how many guesses were made and when it ended.
Your player name, rating class and results are shown to your opponent, and the best-rated players appear on a leaderboard that other players can see.
We use this information only to run online matches, calculate ratings, show the leaderboard and keep the service working and free from abuse.
Computer opponents
In online play your opponent is not always a person. The "Play the bot" button starts a match against a clearly labelled computer opponent. In addition, if no other player is available when you search for a public match, you may be matched with a computer opponent that is presented like any other player, with a generated name and a rating. These matches count towards your rating in the same way as matches against people.
Other services your device contacts
The game itself sends no personal details to anyone. But like any app that uses the internet, it cannot reach another computer without that computer seeing your device's network (IP) address and some basic technical details. The game contacts:
| Service | Why | Operated by |
|---|---|---|
| Wikimedia Commons | Loads the animal photos | Wikimedia Foundation (USA) |
| Our game server | Online play, and a check at start-up of whether online play is available | Hetzner Online GmbH, in Germany |
| Cloudflare | Carries the connection to our game server and protects it from abuse | Cloudflare, Inc. |
Our server uses your network address only briefly, in memory, to limit abuse (for example too many connections from one address). It does not write it to the player database.
If you tap "Read on Wikipedia" or a photo credit, the page opens in your web browser, outside the game, under Wikipedia's own privacy policy.
Notifications
If you switch on the daily reminder, the game asks for permission to show notifications. The reminders are scheduled on your device itself. Nothing is sent to us, and we cannot send you messages.
What we do not do
- We do not show advertising.
- We do not use analytics or tracking tools.
- We do not sell or share your information with anyone for their own purposes.
- We do not ask for or access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or location.
How long information is kept
- Information on your device stays until you delete the game or clear its data.
- Your online profile is kept until you delete it.
- Backup copies of the server's data are kept for up to 30 days. After you delete your profile, it disappears from the last of these backups within 30 days.
Deleting your online profile
In the game, open Versus and choose Delete online account. Your name, rating and record are removed from the server permanently. Matches you took part in stay in the match log, but no longer point to you. What is stored on your device (your Dex, statistics and streaks) is not affected.
If you can no longer open the game, removing it from your device deletes the key that links you to your profile. Nobody, including us, can then connect that profile to you. If you would also like it removed, write to us; note that without the key we may not be able to tell which profile was yours.
Children
Animalia is suitable for all ages. It collects no names, contact details or location, shows no advertising, and offers no way to chat or to type text that other players can see.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK). These include the right to ask what is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its use, and to complain to a data protection authority (in Turkey, the Kişisel Verileri Koruma Kurulu; in the EU, the authority of your country).
We process the online profile because it is necessary to provide the online game you asked for, and network addresses because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the service secure.
The server is in Germany, and Cloudflare and Wikimedia operate worldwide, so information may be processed outside your own country.
To use any of these rights, write to ssalihkkahraman@gmail.com. Because profiles are anonymous, we will need your player name (shown in the Versus lobby) to find your profile.
Changes to this policy
If the game starts to handle information differently, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed.
